Thenew Advanced Metal Processing Center (AMPC) has opened at Brunel University London. The center gives manufacturers an incentive to work with Brunel on large-scale research and development activity, which includes innovative structures for lightweight car parts that would go from the lab to full-scale industrial trials.
The AMPC is funded by £15 million ($20 million) from the U.K. government, providing the equipment and infrastructure to attract industrial match funding from partners such as Constellium and Jaguar Land Rover. This will go to building the future generation of engineers, designers, scientists and materials specialists. It wills also
speed up automotive lightweighting through the
deployment of world-leading, high-performance aluminum alloys and innovative technologies.
